In Vishal Bhardwaj’s adaptation of  Shakespeare’s Hamlet,  in Haider , Shahid Kapur who plays the lead in the film has a monologue with a skull – Haider who has lost his equilibrium  says – Marke hi pata chalta hai, ki zinda the toh jiye nahin, aur marke bhi bache nahin– are a transcreation of the Bard’s famous lines.

The actor, who is currently shooting in Poland for Shandaar, has got so attached to the skull that he has asked Bhardwaj to give it to him as a keepsake. As Shahid confesses, “Haider is a special film for me which is why I want a memento to remind me of one of my most challenging performances. And what better than the skull? It is the monologue people has long associated with Shakespeare’s Hamlet. That is the scene I hope will make Haider memorable too. That is the reason I have asked Vishal sir for it.”
