She’s working with Dharma Productions and Phantom Productions in Hasee to Phasee. She is awaiting Shuddh Desi Romance opposite Shushant Singh Rajput, she has bagged YRF’s Kill Dil that stars Ranveer Singh and Govinda and Habib Faisal’s next untitled with Aditya Roy Kapur. Not to mention TV ads and photo shoots. Parineeti Chopra has her plate full.

How do you handle your recent stardom?

It is crazy. I have nine scripts lying next to my bed. Till a couple a years ago, I was working behind the scenes and now I’m facing the camera. It’s been a 360 degree turn for me mentally to be an actress. Earlier I used to annoy Priyanka about being an actress, now I understand her.

Why do you say that?

Being an actress is not about living a luxurious lifestyle, going to the best places in the world etc. You go through mental pressures while filming a movie. The adulation when people say you are good, then the rumours follow… I’m just beginning to get the hang of it all. In my actors-are-useless phase of life, I looked down on actors. But Priyanka spotted the actress in me that I couldn’t see myself. I am not the best looking girl. I am average looking but I guess it had to happen.

Have you synergised between your on and off screen persona?

I belong to a family of boisterous and loud people and have been raised with the boys. Our lifestyle has been fun loving and that’s why you see me the way I am. I am closer to Dimple from Ladies vs Ricky Bahl than to Zoya in Ishaqzaade. Zoya was a boisterous, aggressive role and I had to physically transform myself, my look and my body language for her while Dimple was a lot like me – I was fat then.

Do you visit Dubai often?

I come to Dubai quite often. I come here to have a cup of coffee sometimes (laughs). I love Tim Horton’s.

Do you wear elaborate garments off screen and off the ramp too?

(Giggles) Never. I’m happiest in my flip flops, jeans and ganjees.

What kind of films do you enjoy?

From watching films as an audience to understanding filmmaking as a craft has been a transition for me. I was never a movie buff but I have watched Hindi and English rom-coms over and over again. I don’t have a stomach for all varieties of cinema but I am learning every day.
